The Ingenious Nobleman Sir Quixote of La Mancha (Modern Spanish: El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha, pronounced [el iŋxeˈnjoso iˈðalɣo ðoŋ kiˈxote ðe la ˈmantʃa]), or just Don Quixote (/ˌdɒŋ kiːˈhoʊti/, US: /-teɪ/; Spanish: [doŋ kiˈxote] (About this sound listen); original pronunciation: [don kiˈʃote]), is a Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Published in two parts, in 1605 and 1615, Don Quixote is the most influential work of literature from the Spanish Golden Age and the entire Spanish literary canon. As a founding work of modern Western literature and the earliest canonical novel,[citation needed] it regularly appears high on lists of the greatest works of fiction ever published, such as the Bokklubben World Library collection that cites Don Quixote as the authors' choice for the "best literary work ever written".

In one personality the hero is a quiet, retired, inoffensive business man, a lover of books, a hater of political corruption, devoted to one woman, proud of a Puritan conscience. In the other state the hero is a breezy promoter of the Middle West, a loud, sporty boodler, and the lover of any pretty woman who chances in his path. A succession of ridiculous situations is the result, farcical confusion worse confounded.
  • The White Linen Nurse

    Available: Epub 1 Downloads
A book about which every reader will form his own definite opinion. If one likes it, it is eccentric perhaps but full of the knowledge of human nature, and if there never could be a white linen nurse as ingenuous and good as the heroine, so much the worse for the world. If one doesn't like it, it seems very sentimental and forced and silly. Apt to be entertaining either way.
